Tuesday leaving Thunder Bay

I heard from Troy this morning that they were up early and sailing away from Thunder Bay. While we talked their boatspeed when from 6.8 to 7.2 and we were only on the phone for 10-15 minutes! Amazing. They all sounded so excited to have the wind with them. From Thunder Bay they were headed to the Sault and hope to arrive by Thursday.

More to come....

Monday in Thunder Bay

The boys arrived in Thunder Bay on Monday, got settled and went out for a Steak Dinner. Troy said that the marina is nice and that they're having a great time. Tomorrow they head towards the Sault!

WhimSea is away

At about 1:15 this afternoon WhimSea left the dock on her way to the Sault. The guys got a great send off with lots of friends and family there to see them off. Bruce from Apostle's Creed gave many of us a ride out and we circled WhimSea for one last goodbye.

I'll post updates as I get them.

WhimSea takes third in their class

Though I'm pretty sure everyone knows this, but WhimSea has taken third in the PHRF C class! What an amazing feat for these guys and the boat. They've never raced before and not only were they able to finish, they took back a flag! These guys should be proud of what they've done. I know WhimSea will be flying the flag with pride.

Dave Olin, our resident historian, tells us that other boats from Knife River have entered, but none have finished the race.

Thanks to everyone for all you've done to make this happen. To helping supply the boat, to working on her to get her ready, to cheering her on on finish day, every contribution mattered. I'm sure Troy will be posting about the adventure soon so keep watching!
